 Februar 2017

February 2017
I've been to Cape Town before. I went there in 2017 to disprove and confirm myths about this world-class surf ski environment. My trip included a month in Cape Town and the Fish Hook beach where lifeguard clubs and surf ski clubs are located. This is where you paddle downwind. After a month in Cape Town, my trip continued with 2.5 weeks, backpacking around the coast. I brought many things with me when I left South Africa last time. New friends, better surfing skills, knowledge of world-class culture, Millers Run, Miller Taxi, Table mountain, culture etc. But I also came back with a fear for the country, South Africa. It was a 7 week long scare campaign. In South Africa, all houses have alarm systems, large gates or bars, as if it were a prison. There are a lot of things you must not do such as to go outside when it's dark. Walk alone on the beaches and in the streets. The list is long and it took me a few weeks at home in Denmark before I felt that I was safe again, the safety of being able to bike home from Copenhagen at. 22:00 in the dark knowing that no one would kill me or threaten me with knives to get my bike. I promised myself that I would not return to the place that caused so much fear in me. Where I constantly walked in chains that restricted my freedom to walk and be the places I wanted to.

In addition to fear, my 7 weeks in South Africa also planted a dream. A dream to come back one day and do the Cape Point Challenge. And it is with this dream that this Christmas calendar starts.

But just 2 days ago I came home from Hawaii, I was to my nephew babtism, jet lag is killing me ... So let's see if I ever get my fligh - tomorrow
